Our Church
Troy Presbyterian Church was founded in 1897 and still remains strong to
the Word of God.
Rev. J. David Speering brings us our worship message each week. We are
blessed to have him and his wife Gail in our church family.
Rev. Speering comes to Troy from Lavonia, Georgia. Prior to being in
Lavonia, he served God and people in five churches in the Commonwealth
of Virginia. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biblical Languages
Interpretation and a Master of Divinity degree in Theology. His Bachelor of
Arts degree is from Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia. His
Masters degree is from Columbia Theological Seminary and his doctorate is
from the University of Biblical Studies in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Rev. Speering is joined by his wife Gail, who has been a teacher in public
schools in Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. The Speerings have two adult
children - Karen Reedy of Asheboro and Allen Speering of California. Rev.
Speering enjoys oil painting and pen and ink drawing, classical and Gospel
music, canoing and world history.
